Bladeless LASIK Surgery Is a Safer Way to Achieve Clear Vision

LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is one of the most popular and effective elective medical procedures available. By using a surgical laser to reshape your cornea, your surgeon can greatly enhance your vision, and in many cases, eliminate your need for glasses and contacts. Dr. Francis J. Clark has been performing LASIK since the FDA first approved the procedure. He is committed to using the latest technology and one of the country's best LASIK surgery facilities to improve your vision. Under our care, patients can rest assured that they are receiving the best in bladeless vision correction from a highly experienced surgeon. How the Eye Works

Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism occur when the cornea (the dome-shaped front surface of the eye) is improperly shaped, compromising its ability to refract light properly. When you look at an object, light reflects from its surface and enters your cornea, which helps focus light upon the retina at the back of the eye. When light is refracted improperly, your brain does not perceive a clear image, resulting in distorted and blurred vision.

How LASIK Works

During surgery, Dr. Clark will reshape the cornea, improving its ability to properly refract light. First, we will use the Intralase™ FS Laser system to create a tiny flap in your cornea, and gently lift it to access the inner layer, or stroma. We then use the VISX Star S2™ laser to reshape the stroma by vaporizing tiny portions. The flap is then replaced, acting as a natural bandage. With LASIK, you will have follow-up appointments, but there is no need for sutures or extensive post-operative care. Within a few days of healing, you will experience significantly improved vision, with many patients experiencing 20/20 vision or better after full recovery.

LASIK Candidates

If you suffer from nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, and you wish to reduce or eliminate your need for glasses or contacts, you may be a good candidate for LASIK. You should also be at least 18 years old and have good general and ocular health. Your corneas must also have ample thickness to accommodate a flap. We can help determine if LASIK surgery is a good option for you.

Advanced LASIK Procedures

Dr. Clark only performs blade-free IntraLase®, using sophisticated surgical lasers to create the corneal flap. Blade-free LASIK is more accurate than traditional LASIK, which involves creating the flap using a surgical blade. The immense precision of IntraLase® makes it a low-risk, minimal-discomfort procedure. In addition to using the latest technology and techniques, Dr. Clark also operates at a state-of-the-art facility, the Wills Surgical Eye Center of Bucks. This institution is the largest eye hospital in the country, and is highly regarded for its innovations and commitment to excellence.
