LASIK Process

The Lasik process contains the following steps.

  • Our patients call to schedule a Lasik Evaluation. We ask that contacts be removed and not worn for three days prior to the office visit at which time a complete eye exam with dilation is performed.
  • The Evaluation then takes place, which includes a discussion with our lead technician, and Francis J. Clark, M.D., Wills Eye Surgeon. A minimum of one hour should be allowed for the evaluation.
  • A surgery date is selected at the Wills Eye Surgery Center located in Warminster, approximately 1-½ miles from the Hatboro office.
  • At the same time, a date is selected for a wave scan. The wave scan determines corneal aberrations that may be present. The scan is also performed at the Wills Eye Surgery Center, and is routinely done on a Friday morning. It takes approximately 5-10 minutes. No drops are utilized, so you are able to proceed with your day with no interruption.
  • Approximately 1-2 weeks later, the patient returns to the office for a pre-op exam with a repeat refraction. At this visit the patient receives surgical instructions.
  • The surgery is performed on Friday mornings, and may be done within days or a few short weeks of the pre-op exam. The surgery takes approximately 20 minuets, but the patient remains at the center for 1 ½ - 2 hours.
  • Most patients are able to return to work the following Monday.
  • Finally, post-op visits are scheduled at 1 day, 4 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and one year.
